Story, Sencirk

Modou Fata Touré: The Founding Spirit of Sencirk' Behind the birth and growth of Sencirk' lies a central figure: Modou Fata Touré, a self-taught artist, passionate educator, and pioneer of social circus in Senegal. It was he who, as early as 2006, initiated the first circus workshops within the Empire des Enfants (Children's Empire), convinced that this art could become a powerful tool to help vulnerable children rebuild their lives. His vision was clear: the circus can transform, reveal, and liberate. He provided these young people not only with artistic discipline, but also with structure, attentive listening, high standards, and a level of confidence they had often never experienced. Thanks to his energy, his ability to unite people, and his unwavering commitment on the ground, Modou Fata Touré played a pivotal role in the project's development. It was under his leadership that the circus school took shape in 2010, with the support of the City of Dakar. He became its driving force, its face, and a respected mentor, passing on to new generations not only techniques, but also strong human values: respect, rigor, solidarity, and creativity. Even today, he remains a key figure in the collective, both an artistic and educational pillar, and a source of inspiration for the young people he guides. His personal journey, his commitment, and his ability to build bridges between the artistic, social, and institutional worlds have allowed Sencirk' to become what it is: a school, a company, a refuge, and a springboard for hundreds of young people in Senegal.
