Jar Jar delves into the heart of the tumultuous journey of a young African female artist, through writing of radical modernity rooted in African culture.

Jar Jar is a show conceived and performed by Mariétou Thiam, an aerial acrobat and contortionist, now the artistic director of the SenCirk company in Dakar. Yet, Mariétou didn't envision this life just a few years ago when she arrived in Dakar from her home province of Kaolack in southern Senegal. Years later, she proudly upholds the values of the circus, still relatively unknown in Senegal, and asserts her place as a female artist in the face of the sometimes harsh gaze of Senegalese society.

Jar Jar is a tribute to all women who dare to defy expectations and forge their own path, asserting their identity with courage and determination. Through this powerful creation, Mariétou Thiam offers a vibrant testament to the power of art as an instrument of social and personal transformation.

Jar Jar celebrates the diversity of African women's voices. To give voice to this

exploration, a poetic narrative, embodied by the slam poet Magui Diop, will punctuate

The solo in chapters. This voice, both intimate and striking, sometimes bordering on rap,

will strongly embrace Mariétou's play.
