Darkness first… Then light. Gradually, a stage covered with straw is revealed. A figure emerges, as if rising from the womb of the earth…

With Ancrage, Modou Fata Touré presents a work deeply rooted in humanity and in his land of origin. On stage, physical engagement is total, moving between weight, tension and balance. Bodies confront and support one another, test and attune to each other, eventually reaching their point of anchorage. A new world takes shape, where nature and human presence intertwine, take root in one another, and draw the audience into a state of profound calm.

Ancrage is a quest for identity and a return to origins. Drawing on his own personal history, Modou Fata Touré explores the relationship between human beings and nature, often disconnected and at times conflictual. In a duet with aerial acrobat Ibrahima Camara, he works with raw materials: straw, wood and earth… to develop new techniques and original apparatus, shaping his own approach to contemporary circus. The dramaturgy, both open and plural, outlines a new vision of contemporary African circus.
